Retail units for lease in Warkworth highway centre

Retail units are being offered for lease in The Grange, a new highway retail service centre in Warkworth north of Auckland that is now under construction with completion set for next year.
“The Grange is the only consented comprehensive retail service centre located on State Highway 1 between Auckland and Whangarei,” says Jan Hutcheson, leasing specialist with Barfoot & Thompson City Commercial and master agent for The Grange who is seeking tenants for the 30 unit retail development.
“There is strong interest in the development now that construction is underway,” Hutcheson says. “We have leased a significant portion of the development so far and have secured a great mix of businesses, all of which will be popular with tourists and locals.
“However, there are still opportunities for service, hospitality and tourist related businesses, with premises for lease ranging from 50 sq m to around 500 sq m.”
The 5137 sq m centre is anchored by a drive-through McDonalds’ restaurant and a BP petrol station.
Hutcheson says that McDonalds along with BP were among the first tenants to commit to the site. “McDonalds had been looking for premises in the area for some time, without finding anything suitable, so when the concept of The Grange was introduced to them they didn’t hesitate,” Hutcheson says. “They are confident the drive-through restaurant they have planned for a 2015 opening will be well appreciated by travellers and locals alike.”
A substantial number of other premises have already been leased to brand name fast food operators offering sushi, fish & chips, kebabs, fresh salads, juices and liquor. Tenants signed up include a Coffee Club, a childcare facility, Snap Fitness centre, Tank Juice and St. Pierres Sushi.
Hutcheson says the retail development has been specifically designed as a safe and easily accessible centre for SH1 traffic with about 5.2 million vehicles passing the site annually but it will also benefit the local community.
The centre will feature easy right hand entries and exits onto the main highway and will encompass 142 car parks - many specifically designed for cars towing caravans, boats, trailers and buses.
“This retail centre will be a major stop off location for Aucklanders heading to Whangarei, Northland and the northern beaches,” she says. “Holidaymakers, commuters and truck drivers will stop for fuel, refreshments and supplies while locals will shop, use the childcare centre, the fitness centre and similar services.
“The Grange will also feature a landscaped picnic area, outdoor seating overlooking a small stream and playground for the children. A swing bridge provides access to the cycleway and the residential sites on the developments boundary.”
Hutcheson says the child care centre that will open in The Grange will take up to a 75 children.
“The owner foresees significant population growth in this area with young married couples relocating to Warkworth where they can afford to buy a new home, enjoy a country lifestyle and still commute to Auckland for work,” Hutcheson says.
“Warkworth is now a significant satellite town of Auckland with huge population growth underway.”
