Office leases are now being offered in buildings within the new Westgate Town Centre which is now under construction and due to open in October next year.
“The spaces for lease are on Level One of the new DNZ Westgate Main Street within a significant mixed-use development owned by the DNZ Property Fund,” says Chris Palmer of Colliers International’s Auckland office leasing team who is marketing the leases with colleague Michael van der Putten.
“This development will form the heart of the new Westgate regional town centre by providing modern office and retail properties that will serve a substantial and growing residential catchment,” Palmer says.
A total of 3500 sq m of premium office space is available for lease with a variety of unit sizes starting from 100 sq m.
The first level office space will face the town’s main street and will give occupiers and clients access to 1000 car parks. The mall will be anchored by a Countdown supermarket and Farmers department store.
Palmer says this is the first time high-quality office space in Westgate has been offered to businesses in the west of Auckland. “There are a lot of business owners who live in the west and who commute with their staff to the CBD, Greenlane or other locations. They now have the opportunity to set up closer to home and we expect this will make the Westgate offices keenly sought-after.”
Van der Putten says flexible design options are on offer for businesses wishing to personalise their new offices.
“The variety of office space configurations available will suit many different companies from small to medium sized local enterprises right through to large national corporations,” he says.
“The location will also offer excellent brand exposure making the units ideal for numerous businesses including financial services or medical providers.”
The new Westgate mall has been designed by architects The Buchan Group and will be located on a landscaped town square with ground-level shopping, cafes and outdoor seating.
Palmer says many key development and management personnel involved in the development and delivery of the successful Sylvia Park shopping centre are working on the Westgate project.
“Sylvia Park was recognised nationally and set a new benchmark for shopping centre developments,” he says.
The DNZ Westgate Main Street Mall forms a core part of the Westgate commercial hub, which is the gateway to the regional north west of Auckland, the fast-growing township of Kumeu-Huapai and the North Shore via the new State Highway 18 motorway extension.
Van der Putten says Westgate is the largest master planned urban project currently underway in New Zealand and will include a town square, 3500 sq m library, transport interchange, roads and parks.
“Upon completion it will become one of the key metropolitan urban centres within the greater Auckland region and the commercial hub of the northwest offering shopping, entertainment, business services and public amenities over 56 hectares.”
Palmer says the town centre will generate several thousand jobs providing employees the ability to work and meet in a relaxed, friendly environment.
“The catchment area is characterised by residents which typically earn higher per capita and household incomes than national averages and this demographic has been recognised by a wide variety of retailers which have already chosen to set up shop at Westgate,” he says.
Major residential developments underway nearby include Hobsonville Point, where new housing is being fast tracked to meet the needs of Auckland’s growing population.
Van der Putten saysWestgate is 18 km from the Auckland CBD and within a 15-minute drive for around 475,000 people.
“Being adjacent to the recently completed motorway western ring route, the site has high profile exposure and excellent accessibility to other parts of Auckland including the North Shore.”
